THE battle to save the fulfilment industry?s VAT relief is over.
Ministers in Jersey and Guernsey yesterday announced they will not appeal against the High Court?s ruling that the UK government was within its rights to shut down the Channel Islands? access to Low Value Consignment Relief.
The so-called tax loophole has enabled the online mail order industry to flourish in the islands by allowing firms to sell low-value goods to the UK VAT free.
