MICHAEL J. FOX: ON LIFE, LOVE, AND LIVING WITH PARKINSON?S
Schwarzenegger, DeVito, Murphy ... as 'Triplets'?

By Borys Kit, The Hollywood Reporter
Is the world ready for a sequel to "Twins"?
Universal and Montecito Picture Co. are hoping to develop a doozy of a follow-up to the 1988 hit comedy that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito that would reunite the two stars.
But wait, there?s a twist: In the new scenario, Eddie Murphy would act as a third brother.
PHOTOS: Modern film & television comedians
Titled "Triplets," the story would see Schwarzenegger and DeVito as brothers Julius and Vincent, conceived experimentally, who discover they have third sibling.
The project doesn?t have a director at this early stage -- Ivan Reitman, who helmed the original, would only act as a producer with his Montecito Picture Co. cohorts Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell, according to sources -- but the hunt is on for writers to develop the idea. Insiders caution that no substantial creative discussions have taken place between Universal and Montecito.
The actors are attached to star.
This wouldn?t be the first sequel to an 1988 film that Universal is working. The studio is developing a sequel to "Midnight Run" that sees Robert De Niro, one of the film?s two original stars along with Charles Grodin, returning in an incarnation to be directed by Brett Ratner.

The Mount Sinai Hospital / Mount Sinai School of Medicine
A new study led by researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine indicates that CT scans are more effective than traditional lung cancer detection methods at identifying aggressive lung cancers in their most treatable stages. The data, published online March 27 in the journal Radiology, demonstrate that lung cancers found through annual CT screening are similar to those found in routine practice, both in terms of tumor growth rates and cell-type distribution. In fact, the report showed that 79 percent of the cases diagnosed through annual repeat CT scans were detected at clinical Stage I, the earliest and most treatable stage, compared to only 15 percent detected through traditional methods.
The study, which is the latest report from the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP), counters concerns that lung cancers diagnosed through annual repeat rounds of computed tomography (CT) screening may be of less serious varieties than those diagnosed in traditional clinical settings when symptoms are already present.
"We've previously shown that, similar to common screening methods such as mammography for breast cancer, annual CT scans are effective in early detection of lung cancer. However, there were concerns that the cancer found in these screenings were less serious than those found in routine practice in the clinical setting, and often resulted in excessive treatment," said Claudia I. Henschke, PhD, MD, Professor of Radiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and I-ELCAP principal investigator. "However, the data show that lung cancers detected with annual repeat rounds of CT scans are just as lethal and require equally aggressive treatment."
I-ELCAP is an international collaborative group of more than 60 participating institutes consisting of experts on lung cancer related diseases. Previous research from the group found that lung cancers detected through CT screening have an 80 percent cure rate compared to a 10 percent cure rate for lung cancers detected in the clinical setting.
"Lung cancer is by far the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women. However, when lung cancer is caught in an early, treatable stage, the cure rates are significantly higher," said Dr. Henschke. "It is recommended that people at high risk for lung cancer speak with their health care provider to discuss the benefits and risks of screening in order to make an informed decision about enrolling in a screening program."
Lung cancer accounts for more annual deaths than colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2012, approximately 226,160 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 160,340 Americans will die from the disease.
For this study, the researchers reviewed pooled results from the I-ELCAP database for 1993 to 2009, consisting of men and women at risk for lung cancer who underwent annual repeat rounds of CT screening. Researchers found 111 cases of lung cancer, 90 of which were non-small-cell cancers. Out of the 111 cases, 79 percent were clinical Stage I, the earliest and most treatable stage. Non-small-cell lung cancer is the most common form of lung cancer.
The researchers then compared their findings to a 2008 study published in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology analyzing the growth rates of non-small-cell lung cancers detected through traditional methods. The 2008 study found that only about 15 percent of those cancers were discovered in Stage I.
The researchers also found that while the first round of CT screening detected a higher proportion of slower-growing cancers than those detected in clinical practice, the subsequent annual repeat rounds of screening reflected what is found in clinical practice.
The investigators then analyzed volume doubling time or growth rate and cell-type distribution of the cancers. The mean volume doubling time for all cases was 136 days. Volume doubling times for lung cancers diagnosed in clinical practice ranged from 20 to 360 days. For the 90 non-small-cell cancers, mean volume doubling time was 154 days compared to 135 days in the 2008 study.
When researchers evaluated the cell-types of the cancers, they found the frequencies of small-cell carcinoma, which usually develops in the central areas of the lung, and adenocarcinoma, usually located on the outer surface of the lungs, to be approximately 19 percent and 50 percent, respectively. In the 2008 study these frequencies were nearly identical, at 20 percent and 50 percent.
In addition, the researchers found that 89 percent of the cancers that manifested as solid nodules had significantly faster volume doubling times than the sub-solid nodule cancers and may need a less aggressive diagnosis and treatment approach. The researchers defined cancerous nodules as solid if they obscured all of the lung tissue and sub-solid if they did not.
"Identifying the varying growth rates for specific lesion types should allow us to create a more tailored treatment for the patient," said Dr. Henschke.

We Live in a Digital Age. Optimize the Online Customer Experience ...
We live in an age of great technological advancement, what are you doing to optimize the online customer experience? Too often we think of customer experience as personal conversation with customers or a pleasant looking store or polite employees. We, too often, place too little concern on popular, preferred medium of business of today, the Internet, which leads to a poor digital online experience. Is your Web site contributing to your customers? experience?
One of the common problems with online marketing and advertising is that businesses can spend vast amounts of money on online advertising, search engine optimization, and marketing campaigns to attract customers, but these online marketing campaigns do little to contribute to the actual customer experience.
My Zappos Great Digital Customer Experience:
I recently had my first shopping experience with Zappos. I?ve studied Zappos for several years now, but just recently shopped with them. The entire experience was a breath of fresh air.
Zappos clearly has clean, useful, purposeful customer-focused Web site that creates a positive online customer experience. The Web site is cleanly laid out, looks professional, is intuitive, and is laid out in a helpful way for customers to purchase online. Notice how easy it is to quickly find the type of items you would potentially be looking for with Zappos. Say you?re searching for kids clothing, specifically for a boy or a girl. How easy is it to find what items Zappos has available? How about Zappos?s policies on shipping or returns? No doubt about that, everything is clearly listed on every page.
A Digital Customer Experience with Some Work to Do:
I?ll be honest, I?ve never dealt with this Web site. I can?t speak for their service, product, or the company. All I can say is what I see when I visit their brand online. I notice that they clearly are a legitimate business, I see a picture of their trucks they use for their business. But if I were looking to shop for car parts from them, what would my experience be? How do I know that they have what I?m looking for? Say I were looking for mufflers, or brakes, or some other car part? How easily could I find what they have? Can I contact them? What is their shipping policy? How about returns or exchanges? It?s difficult to tell because the Web site needs to be optimized for the online customer experience.
When I say that a Web site is part of the customer experience, I?m not talking about adding movies, intro videos, flashing lights, sounds or things that pop out of the screen. Those are distractions, gimmicks from the early days of the Web. I?m not looking to watch a movie online (I have Netflix for that), I just want to buy something or contact your company, so don?t make me sit through your intro video and don?t make me dig through your site to contact you.
I?ve previously discussed that customers really only want 3 things when working with a business online:
- Fast
- Cheap (fair price/value)
- Nice atmosphere with help, if needed.
But when the customer is taken to a Web site that is not optimized for the online customer experience, it defeats the purpose of all of the advertising you?ve done, all of the work to build your brand into something memorable, and you miss the opportunity to make a positive, lasting connection with your customer.
If the advertising or marketing campaign out shines the image of your website then you?ve already lost the battle in getting customers and creating future, loyal customers. After all, they are left feeling disappointed with the final result and may feel mislead.
$$$$$ for Marketing
$ for Customer Experience
In reality, it?s not even a matter of making customer experience spending equal to marketing spending, I don?t think that?s realistic, or necessary. But, an optimized experience has to be part of the plan. There has to be real consideration to the online process and how you will create a seamless delivery from the pre-sales, to the sales-process, through post-sales and product or service support. Customers need to feel like it?s all part of one unified business plan.
With that, I want to focus on 4 tips to optimize this process for digital experience of products and services.
4 Tips to Optimize the Online Customer Experience
1. Your customer experience doesn?t have to be like Apple, just beat your competitors.
Hopefully your competition isn?t Apple, that would destroy my point here. But when focusing on the overall customer experience, one easy way to figure out where you are and where you need to improve first is to look at what your competitors are doing and work on becoming better.
Learn what customers in your industry are looking for, why do they choose them over you? What you can learn from the way your competitors do business and how can you make a difference to give you the advantage? You?ll be amazed at what you can actually learn from a competitor when you change your focus from reactive thinking to pro-active thinking.
2. Make your site an interactive customer experience.
A key point to an exceptional service experience is the feeling that the service is catered to the needs of the customer. The more interaction added to your Web site, blog, social media, etc., the more customers will feel that your organization is looking to meet their needs and craft the service around customer needs.
Inviting customers to a ?generic website? when customers want a catered experience, makes your brand ineffective and forgettable.
3. Customer experience is a feeling.
Stimulate feelings, not the senses. The use of videos, music, sounds and images in motion is becoming a far more common feature of websites, but don?t get sucked into that. The trap is to stimulate the senses and offer a completely different experience of a website than simply filling a website with endless amounts of text. But it?s not the senses we want to engage, it?s the feelings customer get when working with your brand.
Focus on making making it professional, useful, functional, straight forward, useful, clean-looking, functional, and useful (did I mention that already?). The easier, faster, more useful your Web site becomes for customers, the better the feelings you?ll develop within customers that will be associated with the product or service and your brand.
4. Customer experience is for the customer, not the staff.
You wouldn?t believe the number of times I?ve been involved in projects where management and developers cater more to their own personal preferences and what they think would be best, even when it?s directly opposed to what customers want. Unless employees are the primary users of your site, with all due respect, their opinion doesn?t count.
It shouldn?t matter that the boss likes it on the left or that developers want it blue. If customers prefer it on the right and red, it?s done. As the number of customers increases, we typically have a decrease in the level of care for customer opinion. It?s like we become desensitized to the fact that at the end of the day we depend on the customer.
Sweat the small stuff.
I think that we are too careless with the customer experience. We don?t realize how important the little things really are to the overall experience. We?ve all heard the saying ?don?t sweat the small stuff?. It?s true for many things, but not for the customer experience. We go out of our way to carefully craft marketing language, create welcoming places of business, we train our people to be polite, professional, and helpful.
We typically go out of our way to please our customers. Sometimes, though, we get lost in our processes and forget some of the small things that can quickly add up to frustrate our customers. Take a minute and look over your Web site, ask a complete stranger to give you feedback, honest feedback. Take the time to optimize your Web site or system to maximize positive potential for an exceptional customer experience.

LONDON | Thu Mar 29, 2012 4:20am EDT
LONDON (Reuters) - The collapse of an ice sheet in Antarctica up to 14,650 years ago might have caused sea levels to rise between 14 and 18 meters (46-60 feet), a study showed on Wednesday, data which could help make more accurate climate change predictions.
The melting of polar ice could contribute to long-term sea level rise, threatening the lives of millions, scientists say.
Sea levels have increased on average about 18 centimeters (7 inches) since 1900 and rapid global warming will accelerate the pace of the increase, experts say, putting coastlines at risk and forcing low-lying cities to build costly sea defenses.
Scientists last month said that thinning glaciers and ice caps were pushing up sea levels by 1.5 millimeters a year, and experts forecast an increase of as much as two meters by 2100.
A very rapid sea level rise is thought to have occurred 14,650 years ago but details about the event have been unclear.
Some past sea level records have suggested glacier melt led to a 20 meter increase in less than 500 years.
But uncertainty lingered about the source of the melt, its force and its link to the changes in climate.
A team of scientists, including researchers from France's Aix-Marseille University and the University of Tokyo, claim to have solved the mystery which may shed light on climate change.
They reconstructed sea level changes by analyzing samples of coral collected from reefs in Tahiti and dated them to determine the extent and timing of the sea level rise.
"Our results ... reveal that the increase in sea level in Tahiti was between 12 and 22 meters, with a most probable value between 14 and 18 meters, establishing a significant meltwater contribution from the southern hemisphere," said the authors of the study published in the journal Nature.
This implies the rate of sea level rise was more than 40 millimeters a year, they said.
A U.N. climate panel on Wednesday said all nations will be vulnerable to the expected increase in heat waves, intense rains, floods and a probably rise in the intensity of droughts.

About Spyware
I am certain that presently there would be lots of people that are unaware of the term spyware and they might well be finding the reply to the query, what is spyware? Spyware much like the title implies is truly a computer program which collects information from the PC without the approval of the actual person. This kind of program normally conceals itself as part of any kind of legitimate software that are around via the internet. The online hackers purposely include these types of spyware to such genuine software packages so that these may be utilized for specific goals. The primary reason of employing spyware is to grab the personal information plus the details such as protection passwords from the computer systems. Furthermore, spyware can easily keep track of all your pursuits that you simply do making use of your computer which means that your privacy is completely destroyed.
Approximately a decade ago, spyware wasn't common yet while the time passed, it was rapidly distributed by the particular cyber criminals in order to achieve their particular ambitions quickly. While spyware grew to become frequent, the development of anti- spyware occurred and people got a little bit relieved since these applications had been particularly designed to check various kinds of spyware. These spyware were then incorporated as a part of the most anti-virus software packages so that the folks can take dual benefit. Therefore by setting up great anti-virus computer software that has got anti-spyware as being its component, you can keep protected from various forms of malicious computer software as well as the spyware that are presently there via the internet. Should your antivirus software program is up to date, then it will keep you actually safe from almost all of the malicious applications including the spyware.
In the most of cases, the spyware is actually connected what is phishing to virtually any software virus which means that should your personal computer receives some virus, it's also immediately contaminated with the particular spyware. It really is because of this cause that it is suggested to remove the actual computer virus from the PC as quickly as possible even if it's a minor one. It is likely that even the least harmful viruses could have spyware together with them. Should you ignore this type of computer virus and enable that to stay in your computer thinking about it a small type, it might not be too much detrimental for your computer but the probabilities are that all your activities would be watched by the actual online hackers which is certainly not needed.Always take care of the idea that any virus may be linked to some form of spyware and so, you have to be very careful at all times. Don't take perhaps the minor virus casually and also immediately get rid of it utilizing good anti-virus software and afterwards examine your personal computer together with any anti-spyware to ensure that your personal computer is altogether protected from any destructive software. You will have to devote a little bit of money on purchasing the legitimate anti-spyware but when you accomplish that, you'll have the actual peace of mind.

House GOP budget plan heats up as campaign issue
WASHINGTON (AP) ? The debt-slashing budget plan by House Republicans is heating up as a presidential campaign issue, as its author Rep. Paul Ryan and a top White House adviser spar over its impact.
Senior White House adviser David Plouffe (pluhf) said Sunday that leading Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney would "rubber stamp" Ryan's budget plan. The GOP proposal ? endorsed by Romney last week ? would slice $5.3 billion from President Barack Obama's budget over the coming decade through tax reforms and sweeping program cuts.
Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the plan's architect, brushed off Romney's linkage to the plan. Ryan said he will be the plan's main shepherd in Congress. Ryan added he was not actively seeking to become Romney's running mate.
The two men spoke on "Fox News Sunday."

Single molecules in a quantum movie

The quantum physics of massive particles has intrigued physicists for more than 80 years, since it predicts that even complex particles can exhibit wave-like behaviour in conflict with our everyday ideas of what is real or local. An international team of scientists now succeeded in shooting a movie which shows the build-up of a matter-wave interference pattern from single dye molecules which is so large (up to 0.1 mm) that you can easily see it with a camera.
This visualizes the dualities of particle and wave, randomness and determinism, locality and delocalization in a particularly intuitive way. Seeing is believing: the movie by Thomas Juffmann et al. will be published on March 25 in "Nature Nanotechnology".
A quantum premiere with dye molecules as leading actors
Physicist Richard Feynman once claimed that interference effects caused by matter-waves contain the only mystery of quantum physics. Understanding and applying matter waves for new technologies is also at the heart of the research pursued by the Quantum Nanophysics team around Markus Arndt at the University of Vienna and the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology.
The scientists now premiered a movie which shows the build-up of a quantum interference pattern from stochastically arriving single phthalocyanine particles after these highly-fluorescent dye molecules traversed an ultra-thin nanograting. As soon as the molecules arrive on the screen the researchers take live images using a spatially resolving fluorescence microscope whose sensitivity is so high that each molecule can be imaged and located individually with an accuracy of about 10 nanometers. This is less than a thousandth of the diameter of a human hair and still less than 1/60 of the wavelength of the imaging light.
A breath of nothing
In these experiments van der Waals forces between the molecules and the gratings pose a particular challenge. These forces arise due to quantum fluctuations and strongly affect the observed interference pattern. In order to reduce the van der Waals interaction the scientists used gratings as thin as 10 nanometers (only about 50 silicon nitride layers). These ultra-thin gratings were manufactured by the nanotechnology team around Ori Cheshnovski at the Tel Aviv University who used a focused ion beam to cut the required slits into a free-standing membrane.
Tailored nanoparticles
Already in this study the experiments could be extended to phthalocyanine heavier derivatives which were tailor-made by Marcel Mayor and his group at the University of Basel. They represent the most massive molecules in quantum far-field diffraction so far.
Motivation and continuation
The newly developed and combined micro- and nanotechnologies for generating, diffracting and detecting molecular beams will be important for extending quantum interference experiments to more and more complex molecules but also for atom interferometry.
The experiments have a strongly didactical component: they reveal the single-particle character of complex quantum diffraction patterns on a macroscopic scale that is visible to the eye. You can see them emerge in real-time and they last for hours on the screen. The experiments thus render the wave-particle duality of quantum physics particularly tangible and conspicuous.
The experiments have a practical side, too. They allow to access molecular properties close to solid interfaces and they show a way towards future diffraction studies at atomically thin membranes.

17-year-old singer wows on 'Britain's Got Talent'
By Anna Chan
Susan Boyle who?
"Britain's Got Talent" found another superstar on Saturday night in 17-year-old opera singer?Jonathan Antoine. Like Boyle, the young crooner didn't appear like he'd be a serious contender. Caustic judge Simon Cowell even muttered, "Just when you think things couldn't get any worse" when Jonathan and his pal Charlotte Jaconelli took the stage.?But as soon as the young man opened his mouth to perform a pop/opera tune with his 16-year-old friend, jaws literally dropped.
Even Simon couldn't help but give the duo a standing ovation and one of his rare grins.
"Wow! Wow wow wow!" he declared. "Oh my god!" But it wasn't all good news for the pair. Simon, being Simon, had a word of caution: "I like the fact that this works as a duo, but I worry, Charlotte, that you're gonna hold him back."
Jonathan's response? "Well, we've come on here as a duo, and we're going to stay here as a duo."
Awww!
Check out Jonathan and Charlotte's tear-inducing performance:
What do you think? Will Jonathan's career surpass Susan Boyle's??Share your thoughts on our Facebook page!

Danny Groner: 3 Things the Tim Tebow Trade Teaches Us
The New York Jets acquired always-controversial quarterback Tim Tebow last week in a move that has some NFL fans perplexed. "The only reason Woody decided to bring the circus to town is to make money and distract the Jets fans from their misery," wrote one fan. One thing's for sure: Tebow is bringing the Jets some attention, and he's probably good to rely on for merchandise sales, too. "It may have been a move born of desperation, but Ryan and the front office have created another act for a city that loves a circus," said Associated Press writer Tim Dahlberg. What should we make of all of this? Sportswriters chime in:
Will Leitch, New York magazine:
Sportswriters and sports fans love narratives ... It turns sports into a morality play, set in the same ceaselessly contentious key as politics. It makes sports not fun. I thought I was safe, with him all the way across the country in Denver. But now he has found me. Now he is a Jet. And he's all my mother is going to want to talk about.
Dan Shanoff, New York Times:
It is an unusual kind of fandom, rooting for the player and not the team -- or, more accurately, the player, then the team. In a way, it is a deviant lifestyle choice for the typical sports fan, who roots for the jersey no matter whose name is on the back. But in another way, it is precisely the same kind of relationship at the core of every person's fandom, in our case adapted for a player, not a team.
Russ Douthat, New York Times:
New Yorkers are a sophisticated lot, and the Tebow hype will afford them plenty of opportunities for eye-rolling. The sophisticated football fan will tell you that Tebow is a bad-to-mediocre quarterback with a few unusual skills who rode a lucky streak to undeserved fame; the rest is just the standard media fantasy about "intangibles" and "grit" dressed up with spirituality.
